On February 7th, 2018, the Stan Sheriff Center, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Athletics, and Sodexo (Marc Nakamoto and Patrick Baugh) hosted a mixer between the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC) and the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce (HJJCC) at the Men’s Basketball game against UC Riverside. Over 100 people attended, with equal representation between both organizations! An HJJCC member stated, “We should have more of this kind of event to strengthen our relationship.”
Not only did current HJCC Chair of the Board Brian Nishida and HJJCC President George Takase give opening remarks promoting the networking and strengthening of connections between the HJCC and HJJCC. Assistant Coach Marlon Stewart gave a pep talk to excite and cheer the Rainbow
Warriors as they tried to break their losing streak. Chamber member Craig Hirasaki (Owner/Creative Director, ConnectWorks Group Hawaii) represented the HJCC by singing the National Anthem and Hawai‘i Pono‘ī to a crowd of roughly 4,000 attendees.
In the end, the Rainbow Warriors narrowly lost 60-64, keeping it close for almost the entire game. Our members still enjoyed the game.
Finally, thank you to the event coordinators for a successful event: HJCC Past Chairs Sidney Hamada and Arnold Hirotsu, Vice Chair Steve Teruya, Director Clayton Hill, HJJCC President George Takase, HJJCC Director Neil Kuioka, and Sodexo representatives Marc Nakamoto & Patrick Baugh!
