Consul General Yasushi Misawa with Akemi Kurokawa

Member Akemi Kurokawa (Urasenke International, Inc.; The Breakers Hotel) has received the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for his promotion of economic relations between Japan and The U.S.A. The ceremony was held on September 5th.

Kurokawa started his career in Hawaii through his employment with Seibu Group (real estate) in 1972 after graduating from University of Southern California in 1968. Starting with hotels and resorts in Maui, he has also been involved with the HJCC and The Nippon Club, as well as the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii (JCCH), The America Japan Society (AJS), Honolulu Museum of Art, and the Japanese American National Museum.

The HJCC thanks Akemi Kurokawa for his service, and congratulates him on his recognition!
