We welcome all interested local artists to submit entries to this juried art exhibit. As a Hawaii artist, this is your opportunity to showcase your creativity and talent.

The ‘Commitment to Excellence’ Art Exhibition does not have a theme. All types of artwork are welcome.
2-D & 3D media accepted
2-D works must be no larger than 7 feet (width) by 5 feet (height)
3-D works must be no larger than 6 feet by 6 feet by 6 feet
Weight of work shall not exceed 250 pounds
All entries shall state the artist’s sale price, and must be for sale.
HJCC’s commission for all sales is 40% of the gross sale price.
Terms and Conditions
Entrants must reside in the State of Hawaii.
Entries must be wired for installation.
Works submitted to prior HJCC ‘Commitment to Excellence’ Art Exhibitions are ineligible for entry.
Entry Fee & Form
Entry fee is $20 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry thereafter. Students with a valid school ID receive a $5 discount on entry fees. Visa and MasterCard payments accepted. Only five (5) entries per artist will be accepted.
Purchases from and contributions or gifts to the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce are not deductible as charitable contributions.
Award of Excellence (Best in Show) – $1,000
2-D & 3-D Awards [four (4) awards for each category, eight (8) awards total]:
1st Place – $500
2nd Place – $300
3rd Place – $200
Honorable Mention – $75
Rising Star Award – $100
The Rising Star Award is given to the best work made by a student (and did not get selected for the above awards).
Notification of Acceptance
Artists will be notified on Thursday, August 2nd if their works have been selected. We will call you if your work is accepted; the HJCC’s number is 949-5531. Juries will judge artwork on Wednesday, August 1st. A list of selected works will be available on the HJCC website on Thursday afternoon.
Pick-Up for Unselected Entries**
If your work is not accepted, the pick-up date is Friday, August 3rd, 9:00am – 5:00pm.
Pick-Up for Exhibition Works**
If your work has not been sold during the Exhibition (or if you purchased the artwork), the pick-up date is Friday, August 17th, 9:00am – 5:00pm.

*Only the artist is permitted entry into the art gallery unless the artist first obtains permission to bring a guest into the gallery. The artists will be responsible for his or her guest’s actions and any loss or damage caused by the artist’s guest to the gallery, the artwork in the gallery, or any other person present in the gallery. The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC) will not be liable for any loss, theft, or damage to you, your guest, or your artwork caused by any artist or artist’s guest.
**Artists are responsible for making their own arrangements for picking-up their works, including Neighbor Island entries. Works left beyond these dates will be charged a $25 per work, per day storage fee. No exceptions. HJCC is not responsible for any packing or shipping of works.
