The Inaugural Hawaii-Hiroshima Emerging Young Business Leaders Program (EYBLP) successfully concluded on Thursday, March 8th.

In an article published in the Chuugoku Shinbun on Friday, March 9th, the EYBLP visited Daishin Soshakan Photo Studio, a ‘kimono experience photography studio,’ in which participants were able to get dressed in a kimono (hakama for the men), are photographed, then choose which photos to purchase. (The process is similar for seijinshiki ‘Coming of Age Ceremony’ photos, or like High School Senior Portraits here in the Islands.) Finance Factors, Ltd. Vice President Rick Mishima was quoted in the article, stating ‘there isn’t a studio which provides everything from dressing to photography in Hawaii. The process is very detailed.’

Executive Officer & Manager Mr. Yamamoto remarked, “Photos don’t require language. With a lot of [Japanese] immigrants and Hawaii’s deep relationship with Hiroshima, I’d like to explore market options [in Hawaii].”

With the success & benefits in creating business relationships through the exchange program, the Hiroshima Overseas Business Division also expressed interest in continuing the EYBLP for at least the next two years.
