Delegates from Nakamura Gakuen University, Fukuoka, Japan visited the HJCC Office. Nakamura Gakuen University and University of Hawaii have signed the MOU and will start a student exchange program from 2018.
On June 24th, which would have been Ellison Onizuka’s 71st birthday, HJCC president Wayne Ishihara attended a private dedication ceremony for a new exhibit featuring the late astronaut. The exhibit opened to the public on June 26th, and is the newest addition to the Okage Sama de historical gallery at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii (JCCH)
On Friday, June 23, 2017 HJCC members gathered at Pōmaika‘i Ballrooms for an Executive Forum Series: Leaders Growing Leaders presented by the Membership Development Committee (MDC) featuring guest speaker Jason Higa, CEO of FCH Enterprises.
Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC) President Wayne Ishihara was awarded the 2017 Imperial Decoration of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays (Kyokujitsu Sokosho). The award, referred to as KUNSHO in Hawaii, recognizes business leaders for their contributions to promoting economic ties and mutual understanding between the United States (Hawaii) and Japan.
