On October 12, 2017, the HJCC held its signature food and wine extravaganza at the Hawaii Convention Center attracting a crowd of over 1,000 HJCC members and guests. This year’s theme was “How the West Was Won” and featured show-stopping dishes from 16 local restaurants and a wide variety of wines and spirits from well-known beverage distributors.

President Wayne Ishihara welcomed and congratulated Fits Hawaii for opening their office in Hawaii at their opening reception.  They will specialize in handicap tours from Japan.  The Honolulu Japanese Chamber assisted them in their decision to open their office.  They also became a member of our Chamber.

Chair Brian Nishida hosted a recent dinner with members of the Chigasaki Chamber of Commerce & Industry who were in Honolulu to participate in the Shirokiya Chigasaki Fair with their Chair Nobuyuki Kamei.    

On Thursday, September 28, 2017, Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce members were greeted by General Manager Chuck Abbott as they gathered in the lobby of the Prince Waikiki for tour of the newly renovated hotel. Our visit started with some background on how all of the hotel’s thoughtful design and rebranding elements were meant to  perpetuate its “sense of place” by sharing the story of its Waikīkī location’s intriguing history and heritage as a gathering place.
