What The Chamber Can Do For You?
The Chamber facilitates business to business contacts among its members through meetings, functions, and activities, which offer valuable interaction with prominent business professionals from all sectors of trade and industry. Members will have numerous opportunities to network and share information with other members and business leaders.
The Chamber’s focus on business and economic development in the Pacific Basin involves close relationships with international companies with particular emphasis on Japan-Hawaii ties.
The Chamber directs inquiries to members from companies and individuals seeking products and services.
Working closely with other organizations, the Chamber actively evaluates issues affecting business and membership concerns.
Various business seminars are scheduled throughout the year. Current topics in business-economic development, solutions and resources for small-businesses, government affairs and legislative issues, doing business in Japan, Japanese business etiquette, and professional development tips are a few examples of the kinds of seminars the Chamber hosts.
Through active participation on committees, members will have opportunities to improve their communication skills, develop planning and organizational skills, and receive leadership coaching from senior executives. In addition, members will be exposed and immersed in strategic planning, visioning and critical thinking situations.
Members will gain knowledge and “know-how” from CEOs, entrepreneurs, founders of businesses, public sector leaders and other professionals. Members can expand their knowledge in best-practices, budget and finance, general business, human resources, information technology, management, marketing, and other current trends and issues in business, which will propel them to be better-informed professionals.
Participate in the Chamber’s annual events: Generational Awards (Installation) Banquet (July); “Chopsticks & Wine” Food and Wine Tasting (April); New Year’s Celebration Shinnen Enkai (January); Samurai Classic Golf Tournament (September); and other mixers and events.
Take advantage of the Chamber’s various marketing mediums which promote individual companies through timely news articles, and company branding at reasonably priced advertising rates, and sponsorship opportunities. Advertising opportunities are available in the Chamber’s annual B2B Membership Directory and on its website.
Membership dues may be deducted as a business expense, but not as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes. Members also receive various discounts from selected retailers, products and services.
