The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC) proudly welcomed nearly 300 members, guests, and community leaders to a sold-out HJCC Inauguration, Member Recognition, and Generational Award Celebration on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Generations Ballroom at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi.

The evening celebrated the installation of new leadership, recognized outstanding member contributions, and honored a local business family whose legacy has made a lasting impact on Hawaiʻi's community and economy.

A special highlight of the evening was the Kanpai Toast led by distinguished guest Mr. Masahiro Hayashi, Vice-Chair of the Fukui Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Mr. Hayashi was joined by a delegation of 13 representatives from the Fukui Chamber who traveled to Hawaiʻi to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Affiliate Chamber relationship between the Fukui Chamber of Commerce and Industry and HJCC—a longstanding partnership built on friendship, cultural exchange, and business collaboration.

The celebration also showcased the incredible talents found within the HJCC membership. Guests were welcomed with pre-event music by Paul Yokota, followed by a traditional Oli performed by Annie Matsuzaki. Beautiful hula and dance performances by Kristin Alm and Hanayagi Mitsusumi, accompanied by music from Paul Yokota, reflected the rich cultural heritage shared by our community. Musical performances by Craig Hirasaki and a moving rendition of "For Good" from the Broadway musical Wicked by Hope Shinsato, daughter of incoming Chair Kaiulani Shinsato, and her friend Sage Nguyen, added memorable and heartfelt moments to the evening.

The program recognized the dedicated service of Outgoing Chair Derek Kaneshiro, whose leadership helped guide HJCC through another successful year of programs and initiatives.

The ceremonial installation of Kaiulani Shinsato as Chair of the Board for Fiscal Year 2026–2027 was conducted by Acting Lieutenant Governor Keith Regan, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the organization.

HJCC also proudly recognized members whose dedication and volunteer service have strengthened the Chamber throughout the past year.
